When and where is the Friday welcome event?
Twin Lakes State Beach in Santa Cruz from 4-6:30pm!
Navigate to the entrance on E Cliff Dr & 9th Ave - you'll see a small restroom building there.
We will provide heavy hors d'oeuvres and hot and cold non-alcoholic drinks (per state park regulations, we unfortunately cannot provide alcohol). Google maps link here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/NdKPhCKi8GFWvG3Z6.
What should I wear to the Friday welcome event?
The event will include fun group activities, team-based relays and silly games! We recommend you wear casual athletic clothing and footwear. Barefoot and sandals work too, though it may be a bit chilly.
Expect it to be in the 50's and windy - it is the Pacific so will feel cold. Definitely bundle up - layers, puffy jackets, and a beanie are recommended.
Where can I park on Friday?
There are several options for parking but plan to give yourself 10-15 min to find parking and walk in:
(a) The small lots closest to the event area are free, but limited so ask you to leave these for elderly guests; (b) There is a large $2/hour lot near Crow's Nest, depicted at [3] below - note there will be some construction at the entrance to this lot so expect traffic slow downs and give yourself lots of time; (c) Nearby avenues (5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th) and their cross streets all have free street parking too.
What do I do with my luggage on Friday?
The Brookdale has a check-in policy of 4pm but may accommodate early check-in on a room-by-room basis. If they are not able to accommodate you or it doesn't fit with your travel plans, don't worry, we will have a large tarp at the beach on Friday where you can drop your bags. Take care not to leave valuables in your car near the beach.
Where should I eat on Friday night?
There are two restaurants conveniently right on Twin Lakes Beach: Crow's Nest and Cafe El Palomar. We have some other recommendations on the "Things to Do" portion of our website as well:

What is the dress code for the wedding on Saturday?
Dressy casual, elegant and comfortable. Mountain-inspired elements encouraged. The ceremony and cocktail hour will be outdoors and then we will move inside for dinner and dancing. The redwoods can be misty in March, so bring your layers/sweaters/rain jackets and avoid stilettos.
Can I get an Uber/Lyft to the venue? What about home after?
You should be relatively safe to get a ride to the venue. However, it may be difficult to get an Uber/Lyft from Boulder Creek after the reception. We recommend you rent cars and carpool wherever possible.
What if it is raining?
If it is looking like rain Friday, please check your email for an update from us 24-48 hours in advance before the gathering. On Sat, the wedding + reception will happen rain or shine at the venue (YMCA has an indoor alternative for the ceremony on site)!
Where can I park on Saturday?
YMCA Camp Campbell has plenty of on-site parking for all guests!
What will the weather be like?
You can expect temperatures in the 50-60's, though it will feel chillier in the Santa Cruz mountains beneath the canopies of the redwoods. Come prepared for sun or rain, and bring layers to the wedding as we will be outside for a few hours.
Is it okay to take pictures with our phones and cameras during the wedding?
We have a professional photographer on both Friday and Saturday, but please feel free to take photos and videos and share them with us after!
Are kids invited?
Yes!! We'll have some kid-friendly games out during the cocktail hour and a quiet room available adjacent to the reception area reserved for kids + their parents if you need to step out.
What should I do if I don't have a place to stay yet?
Don't fret - there are plenty of options! Though we've now passed the deadline for the room block, reach out to the hotel and mention our wedding anyway—they may be able to accommodate you with our discount in a room outside of our block. If not, you can find additional nearby accommodations on our travel page.
